Across Europe, our health, our nature, and our liveable future are under threat. The political tide is shifting away from protecting people and the planet, and toward serving short-term profits. Polluting industries and their political allies are dismantling the very laws that have kept Europeans safe for decades.

The Greens/EFA in the European Parliament are ready to resist. We will not stand by while protections for people and nature are weakened. We are the opposition against pollution, defending every person’s right to live in a healthy environment.

The fight for a pollution-free Europe - What’s at stake

Europe once led the world in protecting citizens from pollution. Clean air to breathe. Safe water to drink. Food free from harmful chemicals. This was the promise of the European way of life: building health and prosperity together.

But that progress is now at risk. Powerful corporations are using politics to weaken environmental rules, putting profits above public health. The consequences are clear: rising rates of cancer, infertility, and respiratory diseases.

This is not inevitable, it’s political. And it’s time to choose sides.

Our Vision: Health, Freedom, and Justice

Everyone deserves to live free from pollution, no matter where they live or how much they earn.
We fight for a Europe where:

  • Every person can drink clean water and breathe safe air
  • Nature and wildlife are protected, not sacrificed for short-term profit
  • Polluters are held accountable and pay for the damage they cause
  • Families can trust the food on their table and the products they use every day

Because freedom also means the freedom to live in a healthy environment.

Three frontlines of the fight against pollution

1. Toxic chemicals: Your health for their profit

Big chemical companies are pushing to weaken protections in cosmetics, food, and household products. These rollbacks would expose millions to harmful substances linked to cancer, infertility, and chronic illness.
We say no to that. Deregulation means harm, and we will fight to protect your health.

2. Air and water: Our Home, their target

Hundreds of thousands die prematurely each year because of air pollution. Yet the right wants to weaken clean air and water laws.
Everyone in Europe deserves clean air and safe rivers, not empty promises from polluters.

3. Nature: The conservatives want to take it away

Nature is under siege from industrial expansion, factory farming, and deregulation. Without healthy soils, forests, and biodiversity, there is no future. We are fighting for green cities, fertile lands, and rivers you can swim in again.

The PFAS Problem: Europe’s invisible poison

PFAS, the so-called “forever chemicals”, are everywhere – in our water, clothes, food, and bodies. They never break down and are linked to cancer and hormonal disorders. Big corporations have known the risks for years but kept profiting while people got sick.

We are exposing their lies and demanding a full ban on PFAS.
